Fifth Third Bancorp has split its stock 10 times since its initial public offering (IPO). The first stock split occurred on March 28, 1983 with the ratio of 2-for-1, meaning that for 1 share of FITB owned pre-split, shareholders then owned 2 shares. 9 more splits have been implemented since then. The most recent stock split took place on July 17, 2000 on a 3-for-2 basis.
These splits have increased FITB stock's liquidity and made it more appealing to a larger group of investors. However, it's important to remember that these actions only change the number of shares and the price per share with no impact on Fifth Third Bancorp's total market capitalization.

The answer will depend on the decisions of the company's managers and market volatility. Fifth Third Bancorp has not made an official announcement regarding whether it will enact a stock split or reverse stock split, but it has a history of doing so when FITB stock prices become too high or too low for retail investors. Therefore, the ultimate decisions will certainly be made by Fifth Third Bancorp's board of directors. Typically, no action is taken until its price per share reaches a specific threshold.
